2012 X5D recalls

Took my '12 X5D in for an oil change and there were 2 recalls on it, 1 for the O2 sensor and 1 for the EGR bracket. SA told me that the recalls were recent within the last 3 weeks which is why I might not have been notified yet.

ETA: I wonder if those count as "safety" recalls? From what I have read, the EGR bracket recall is quite old. Maybe it just became applicable to the MY2012 X5d?

Mine is due for the O2 sensor recall. It isnt a 'safety recall'. Didnt see an EGR bracket, but I ran it on Dec 23, so if it was after then I would have seen it. Not in a particular rush...

hmm? another ERG bracket recall for the X5D?
I had mine replaced about one year ago, SA told me back then there is a ERG Bracket recall on my X5.

The o2 sensor is a new recall. The EGR bracket was done on my '13 model at its first service nearly a year ago. I guess they will do the o2 sensor at my second service.

User Bawareca on another thread suggests the bracket just kicks the can down the road, resulting even worse outcome when failure occurs.

Unfortunately, most E70 diesels are beginning to run out of original warranty, so less likely BMWNA will issue a recall even if they see a few failures now or in the next months.

So, if there's another version being worked on, it will not be for E70 diesels, IMHO.

I don't think so. I have a feeling that the EGR bracket recall came out in 2013 right afer my last service. I have a couple of cars so the mileage on my '12 is around 17k so it's been over a year since I've brought my X in for service. So this recall is probably new to me, but has been out for over a year.

That being said, I haven't had any issues at all that required service other than annual oil changes and top off the DEF.

The recall has been around, although I do note that the term "NEW" appears at both the production start and stop date for the affected models. I wonder if the coverage of the recall has simply expanded. My car hasnt been to a dealer in over a year as well, no "651" punched. I'll bring it in later this month.
