Replacement parts purportedly do not have the same defect that leads to this early failure. You might argue that this isnt a "trim piece" as defined in the CPO document..it is part of the "engine partition". It is not called 'trim'. It is not 'exterior' nor it is 'interior'. It is inside the engine compartment. Yes, I know what BMW says...but what is written in the CPO document has some interpretation room. ![]() Troubling thing is that if the injectors fail due to water, that should not be covered by CPO if the cause was leaking trim.... in case you are looking for it: http://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/s...driveLine=6474 |

I agree with pushing the issue of this not being a "trim" failure as it is an essential part of the vehicle thus CPO should cover it. I have found that when you are face with these "grey areas" of coverage a little additional effort goes a long way!

FYI:
Error code 4B99 and 483D - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums and in particular post 57 which has the SIBs and service actions. Question for group: there is a corrective service action which was supposted to be done on ALL affected cars if they come in for service. If the OPs car was in for service after this was published and he was still under the 4/50k, they SHOULD have done it. I think if he has any service visit in that window it is proof this was not done. (unless it was done and it still failed...) 2 cents |
