The rear does remind me of a Q3, and just Audi in general. If it was de-badged and missing the grills, I could believe its a new Audi in the distance. And trust me, I know cars.

the CGI shows a sleeker designed Q7. Not bad, but the rear if same as the leaked pics, is still terrible. It's like someone punched it in the face and its eyes (taillights) are being emo.

Good catch. Maybe BMW will finally do something to distinguish the X5 diesel from the gas models. The little "35d" on the side is hard to spot, and perhaps the tailpipe shape could be different to indicate the type of fuel.

Well, if we remove important design elements then many cars will start to look alike...

Again, it's in the eye of the beholder and we all are entitled to our opinion... And while I do not question your knowledge of cars, I venture to say that many other people on this forum know cars too, trust me.

I thought it was mentioned that it was m-sport vs regular.

That is correct. Both 8-cyl. The bigger one is M-sport.

Given production of F15 will be starting somewhere in August 2013, when can we "realistically" expect DIESEL variants to start hitting showrooms and become available to order? In the past, diesels lagged gasoline engines by many months...

My lease on 2011 X5d will be ending in July 2013. If I knew I could order new 2014 X5 diesel one within say couple of months (i.e. by Oct-Nov), I would try to extend my lease by couple of months. Otherwise, I need to consider other options (buyoff current lease, get into short-term lease of 2013 X5d, other car?)

Any insight on the 2014+ X5 diesel's roadmap and availability is much appreciated!

I don't think that the F15 will appeal to the same customers who found the E70 appealing. The E70 looks like a proper 4X4, big, aggressive, sporty, sharp angles and features... And whereas the F15 is no smaller, it still manages to look like a raised X3. And non-car loving people usually can tell the difference between an X3 and X5, and there was a reason why you would pay a lot more $$$ of an X5 rather than an X3, But now I'm struggling to see it...

Looks like this is going to be the last X5 I own unless they change something... Or I'm moving to the Cayenne

Unfortunately, you will not be able to extend the lease while waiting on a particular model to be released. The only way to extend a BMW lease is to have one on order (i.e., you have to be able to give BMWFS a production number otherwise they will not extend the lease).

This time it will be faster. By end of 2013. Inline 6 with 255 hp and 413 pound-feet of torque.
