Exclamation 'Coupe?

Why does BMW call the X6 a coupe?

The "coupe" design of the roofline and the 4 seats and the very high "coupe" like driving dynamics .Traditionalist will tell you a "real" coupe can only have two doors!!!???? BMW seems to make up some of the rules as they go...... Thanks! PalBay

Coupé comes from the French word for 'cut', indicating that the vehicle seating is close-coupled. That usually implies two doors, but it always means a smaller rear seat volume. That translates as less rear leg room, and less headroom, the latter resulting in a sportier exterior roof line.

That, and the fact that when you invent a marketing label such as SAC you get to call yourself the market leader for a year or so.

That is probably where most of BMW's motivation came from to use the word "coupe".
