is breaks squea an official design flaw?

I'm hearing from a few users that the 09 X6 35i model has a small design flaw in the break sensors/rotors/whatever... whch is why they constantly squeal..

can anyone confirm this? i'm looking to get a 2010 35i but not if i'm going to have these annoying issues...

a squeal or two from time to time is not a problem during breakin... but if it's a design flaw it may never go away..

anyone out there experiencing this? and if it's true, has it been resolved in the 2010 model?

I have it only in reverse but mine is X5M. It appears that almost everyone with a X5M or X6M has the same issue so it may in fact be a design issue and no it has not been resoved for MY10

Same thing here with both the X5 and X6.

strange...i thought the problem was really on the X6 design..

my 08 X5 with 14k miles has no break squeal..

can anyone comment on their X6 model and mileage? i'm trying to guage whether or not it's just plain ol break-in or a serious issue long after break-in.

i think in the beginning all breaks squeal... doesn't mean it's a design issue...

anyone been told differently from a dealer or mechanic?

I had a break in squeal, it stopped a while ago. The brakes have been silent. Almost 1900 on the odometer - 2010 50i

X5M here - very consistent brake squeal in the cold weather.

3250 miles.

Appears BMW thinks this is 'normal'.

I tend to disagree.

So much for my brakes being silent. 18 degrees this morning and I'm squealing like crazy.

I agree with the cold weather theory. I have the squeal when slowly stopping, for example, pulling in the last couple feet of a parking space, red light, etc. The first time this occurred just so happened to be the first cold night of the year. Its been doing it ever since and the colder it is outside the more squeal there is.
