Description:Oil Separator Crankcase Ventilation System Part # 11151705237 Brand new, never installed. I realized I didn't have to replace mine, but just replace some hoses. RPX5, maybe you know what's inside the separator? Is there any valve like in other BMW engines? I'm trying to figure out if I should replace mine on M62 engine, therefore would like to know if there are any wearing parts inside.
Here's how a valve from different engine look like and its contents. Is there something like this (spring, membrane) inside the separator or is the separator just a housing with sockets?

Remind me after the New Year and I'll take one apart and post up pics. I've got a nicely cleaned and prepped pre-VANOS intake manifold sitting in my garage ready for a swap on my X5 after I replace the intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, redo the cooling system, etc.
