The style you are looking for is out there but the resellers are buying them up at the wrecking yards. Reach out to your local wrecking yard to get on thief "parts wanted" list.

I have been searching/looking for a set of staggered OE style 87. I'm finding a few, but I am having a hard time discerning which ones are OE (BMW supplied), and which ones are aftermarket. One set I have in mind has all of the proper marking on it around the center bore, including the letters BMW spelled correctly (not upside down) as well as the p/n's. On the inside back however it says "made in Italy".

Can you share with me how to detect an original BMW wheel? Could you include a picture of the front and the back of what to look for?

I suppose one way would be to weigh the wheel?

Thanks!

Thanks, StephenVA.

Basora, OEM style 87's are made in Italy. Here is a picture of my old front wheels that I sold. Use this as a reference and you should be good.

"BMW"
"IS45" (+45 offset, rear will read "IS30" for +30 offset)
"X20EH2" (20" diameter)
"E91/2J" (9.5" width, rear will read "E101/2J" for 10.5" width)
"6753516" (last 7 digits of OEM part number, rear will read "6753517")

You could always weigh it! These wheels are super light for their size!

Here's a front pic and a backside pic of one of the rears I am looking at ... Finish is lightly pitted from road salts, but no nasty curb rash or scuffs ... Production date is 2004 ... what's your opinion? OE or aftermarket? Opinion of value on full set?

There are two sets like these for sale in my area, both with Made in Italy markings ...

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
looks genuine to me

FYI if you can get a good deal on them go for it, theres a few sets on ebay that have been sitting for a year now because guys are asking 2k for sets with curb damage

And don't be deterred be some minor rash, any mobile wheel repair shop can fix that for you for a few bucks

I would agree, OEM. And as RB noted the road rash can be messaged out by the right wheel guy. Can't help you out on pricing, but I know what I'd pay for the one rear wheel I'm (lazily) looking for. :p

Thanks guys!

Found a wheel refinisher in the area by the name Kwicksilver. It's a franchise.

Anybody have any experience with them? Quality work?

Greg I saw your thread and subscribed. I wish I had two fronts to trade, but I did just that years ago.

If you find your two fronts and don't end up parting with the rears in that deal, could you let me offer on one? They are OEM, yes?
