Any way to reset/test bluetooth?
Have an 2006 X5 with bluetooth that has been working more or less flawlessly for the almost 6 months I've had it. It seems to have stopped working.
First off, neither BT phone I have will connect. * They can "find" the car's BT if I search, but then both phones then say unable to connect (i.e., does not even get to the point of asking for the 4 digit code) * Controls on steering wheel do nothing now (i.e., in past, if you pressed the button that switches between radio and telephone and I was not connected, it would say "Activate Phone". I now get absolutely nothing. Also the button for voice recognition, if I was not connected would say "System not available". Now I do not get a beep or anything whatsoever) * Both these phones can connect without issue to my other BMW 3-series with no issues Again, never had a problem prior to now. I suspect something just went bad with the module and it needs to be replaced, but if there is any sort of diagnostic or reset or on/off I can try first, would like to know. I noticed a lot of people on here seem to have had the Bluetooth/Assist module replaced. Is it due to a similar sudden failure? Any help would be appreciated! |

Bring it to the dealer. Sounds like a hardware failure to me. But you are covered under warranty, so don't get yourself all worked up over it. Just bring it to them, take your loaner for the day, and let them worry about fixing it.

Thanks... was coming to that conclusion myself so already made my appointment for first thing next week. My local dealer (Prestige in Ramsey) seems to give out Toyotas as loaners though... or at least that's what I always get stuck with

Update: Dealer confirmed TCU faulty. Could not even get a fault code out of it, as it was not responding at all. Replaced with part # 84-10-9-129-851 and all is working great. I don't think I've seen this particular part # on other posts.... Anyone know if this is an older or newer part #?
Anyway, it all works as it should, so I'm happy again. |
