2006 X5 Bluetooth Quit Pairing

I'm stumped, hopefully someone has an answer. My X5 was working with my Blackberry 7130 for a couple of months, no issues. Then one day it stopped connecting.

I went through the pairing process again.

1. Turn on car
2. Tell Blackberry to search for devices
3. BMWnnnnn is found
4. Select BMWnnnnn device on the Blackberry

After the last step, it pauses for a few seconds and then says "Unable to pair with BMWnnnnn"

This was with Verizon.

As luck would have it, I moved and had to switch to Cingular. Bought a Blackberry 7130 from them. Went through the same process and still get the same error.

Ideas?

I had that happen the first few times with my V3X. I rebooted the phone and it has been fine since.

Tried that, no luck. May end up going to the dealer.

I had problems pairing and fixed it by disconnecting the wiring socket to the bluetooth phone box. Its in the rear of the car under where the CD stacker would be located. its bolted on the frame at 45 degrees. I removed the bracket holding it to get to the wiring socket. I left it disconnected for 20 seconds, and after I plugged it back in things worked normally.

Good luck

Chris

Try turning off your address book transfer on the Blackberry and see if it stays connected. I just got a Pearl, and I discovered that bad phone number data caused the car to disconnect. I had to clean up all of my contacts, and now it works great.

Hopefully this will help some other person.

I took the car into the dealer. They noticed that Assist had also quit working, meaning the TCU was not happy.

Then the fun began. It is now 4 service days later. They flashed the TCU and did some other "diagnostics" and claim it is working now. But -- they said that Assist is not locating the car correctly via GPS, it's off by miles.

They've replaced the GPS antenna and another part with no success. When I asked about an ETA, they said they weren't sure.

So I an off to the dealer tomorrow to pick my car up, working or not. 5 days for something like this tells me my dealer doesn't really know what they are doing and that BMW isn't helping much.

I love technology!

When I bought my car it took me 3 days(!!!) to pair a boring old Nokia 6310i. Every time I tried, the phone could recognise the car but the car refused to see the phone. Guess what cured it? - Just switching the phone off then switching it back on!!!!

Thanks Andre. I did try that. What has me puzzled is why the BMW Assist wouldn't work.

Well, my car is back and all works now. Took 5 days but they got it. The Assist and Bluetooth are all happy now. They did update the TCU but did not replace it. They also replaced the GPS antenna.
