Fully compatible phones

I was reading another thread about how some phones are capable of not only uploading the address book, but also allowing you to view text messages on the navigation screen.

I was wondering which phones that are currently for sale by Cingular allow this capability? Also, is it only Motorola phones, or is there another brand that has full compatibility with all of these features?

I'm thinking of getting a new phone, but would like some advise from someone with first hand experience using one of these phones.

BTW, I have a brand new 2006 X5 with the Bluetooth/BMW Assist option. I just picked it up last week, so I should have the newest version of the bluetooth system.

Anyone? I'm sure someone must have been able to get full functionality out of a recently purchased phone.

Question BMW Bluetooth - is Bang & Olufsen Serene Compatible??

Eric, I'm very surprised that you have had no replies.

Sorry that I cannot help. I have a similar enquiry but would like to know specifically if anyone has found the Bang & Olufsen Serene/Samsung E910 compatible with the BMW Bluetooth system?

I too have a 2006 model X5 (built very late 2005), but I am in the UK and my service provider is Vodafone.

Anyone???

You can visit BMW bluetooth site to check for compatibility or look on the homepage here under cellphone.

If its not there then BMW havent tested it but it may be compatible if you have it just pair it to your car or ask the shop to try their demo on it, you can then delete it.

I know on another thread someone is having difficulty with their Samsung 900. My sharp 902 wouldnt even pair up let alone allow just hands free. I use the Nokia 623-i that is fully compatible.

In respect of SMS that is only available on the bluetooth phone preparation option and not on the bluetooth telematics option which is what you get in the comms pack as well on its own. You can get limited SMS through BMW assist on certain phones.

Looks like you are located in New York ... so for the USA market, the BMW NA option BMW Assist with Bluetooth will not allow SMS text messages to be displayed on the NAV. Not sure why they "disabled this" .... however, if you dont care for Assist you could replace your BT/Assist module with the Bluetooth only ULF module (available from say http://www.bimmernav.com), then if you phone/carrier supports sending SMS over BT, then you could read SMS text messages on the NAV screen.

Hope this helps !

Thanks. I found this information in the forum after I had posted this thread. I guess SMS is not so important to me that I'm willing to spend the extra money required to replace the whole system. But I did go ahead and purchase a Motorola L2, which has the same operating system as the SLVR L7, so I'm guessing it will be fine. I just received it a few days ago, but haven't tried pairing it yet. First I need to transfer over my address book from my old phone, which will be a job in itself.

Samsung D900

Hi.

Does anyone know if the samsung d900 works with the full sat nav/tv assist system. Currently using a siemens s65 which works fine but no sms function showing. And does anyone know of any availability for a cradle for d900 in near future. Failing that can anyone recommend a decent handset pref with cradle availablity.

Thanks in advance
