Verizon Treo 650 and 2005 BMW BT/Assist module

Now that Verizon has finally released the Treo 650 with Bluetooth, has anyone paired up the "Verizon version" of Treo 650 with a 2005+ BMW with Bluetooth. Meaning pair, make calls, and see if the favorites phone book folder in the Treo 650 transferes to the BMW Bluetooth system.

Thanks in advance.

i tried doing this yesterday. successfully paired and got it to work for a second, but then treo went into endless reset loop that wouldn't stop until i got it away from the car.

i've read that it might have to do with favorites being programmed and conflicting with the phonebook transfer. i haven't had the chance to try again yet

Okay,
First what year is your BMW?
If you haven't done this, try installing this car kit software from PalmOne for the Treo 650 to allow the Treo to communicate with the BMW car kit.
Even though it lists that the BMW car kit doesn't work, I found on www.bimmerboard.com bluetooth forum that using this car kit software from PalmOne allowed a Treo 650 from Sprint to pair well with BMW ULF kit (the Bluetooth only module) and that you have to keep the number of favorites on the Treo 650 <40-50 entries.

http://www.palmone.com/us/support/do...0carkitupdate/

http://www.xoutpost.com/html.php?file=bmw_bt_phones.htm (scroll down until you see Treo 650 and click on the 2 different links on the right hand side for more info)

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84661 (long thread with Treo 650 with BMW Bluetooth....5 PAGES!)

Good luck let me know!

So I assume you have the Verizon Treo 650 right?!

yes, i have the Verizon Treo 650. And the patch that you refer to on palmone's site is for a sprint pcs Treo 650. i'm not prepared to load that onto my verizon phone unless someone else tells me that they have succesfully done it.

Is there an option on your Verizon Treo 650 bluetooth menu to keep the BT "awake"....you may have to do that to keep the Treo paired up with your BMW BT system.

you can't keep it awake, but it can remain discoverable, which it is. i think it requires a patch which doesn't exist at the present time.

Whistle

Which year/model BMW do you have and which BT module do you have?

There are people with Verizon Treo 650 on TreoCentral.com who paired up with their 2005 545i with no problems.

Make sure you leave the BT settings "ON" all the time on the Treo 650 so it won't reset itself.

Also, no "pauses" on the favorite contact list. Put a few phonebook contacts with no "1" as the first digits (instead of 1-800-555-1212, do 800-555-1212). Try 10 contacts on the Favorite lists. Also, no contacts in the Favorites folders with (800-555-1212-Pause-123456) phone, pause, PIN password (i.e. for your voicemail, etc.)

Good luck...

BTW, somewhere in this 18 page thread, there are discussion about pairing the Treo 650 with Car BT....There are even some BMWs who paired fine with the current Verizon Treo 650.

Another thread with a guy with a VZW Treo 650 and 2005 545i....he's able to pair and have the FAVORITES folder transfered to the BMW BT and it works as advertised.

another update; tried pairing again by removing all speed dials, but still get reset loop. nav screen says phone book while dashboard info screen says loading phonebook and then reset occurs. strangely, when the phone boots back up, the favorites are all back.

i have a feeling that a patch is going to be required.

Sorry to hear about that.

What Bluetooth module do you have in your X5? Is it the BT/Assist module or the Bluetooth-only module?
