Hi,
You could be letting yourself into a load of trouble and expense. Retrofitting the OEM kit can be a pain unless you have all the basics installed like wiring, button for pairing etc. If you want a fully integrated bluetooth solution have a look at the Parrot CK3100-LCD. It will integrate with the BMW radio, mute it and works with its own voice recignition. Cost is about £105 from expansys.com.

Almost. The OEM retrofit is pretty easy to do. Your car already has all of the wiring that you need, you just need the key Bluetooth parts and a couple of adapters. Since you have the phone now, your car already has the microphone. So, you would need to add the Bluetooth antenna, ULF module, and eject box (which has the pairing button). Since your car is a 2001, you also need a couple adapter cables to connect to the eject box and the ULF module to your car's wiring. Check out www.bimmernav.com. They sell complete kits and it is far and away the most popular BMW OEM retrofit solution on the planet.
