Problem with 2005 BMW X5 and Sprint Motorola Razr V3M
Up until last week I've had the Razr V3 with Cingular and everything worked fine. But, now that we have the Sprint Razr V3M, I've been having a lot of problems. The phone does pair with the car. I've established a connection with the passkey and so on....and it even loads the phonebook and shows siginal strength. When I tried to make a call using the GPS screen, the phone icon on the GPS screen would light up red indicating that the BMW computer has executed the call, but the problem is the audio will not sound in the car speakers, but rather just the phone (which is the opposite way than it should be working) Now, when I flip the Razr OPEN so that you can see the screen, then the audio goes through the car speakers, and also the phone's speaker. So now its working half/half. (The audio should never go through the phone's speaker when connected to the BMW) The other part of the problem is when someone calls, (regardless if the screen is open, or shut) the car's "ringtone" plays through the speaker system, but so does the phone's speaker. So when a call comes in, I got the "old" styled telephone ringtone coming through the car, and my polyphonic ringtone coming through my phone, which, as you can imagine is very annoying. I brought the car to the dealer yesterday (Paul Miller BMW, in Wayne, NJ.. if anyone cares) and they assured us its not the car, but its the phone. Could this be a problem with the BMW's bluetooth firmware (TCU unit maybe?) Or, is it just the phone itself. My guess right now is that the firmware Sprint has on their new V3M's causes a "glitch" when the screen is closed, which causes the audio not to go to the car speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I moved your post to the Bluetooth Forum in hopes that you can get some answers. I don't have BT in my X5 so I can't help you.
Good luck!

What p/n TCU do you have and what is the build date of your car?

I'm not sure where to locate the p/n number for the TCU....where do I find it?

It's on the TCU itself and it's also on the card that should have come with your car.

Depending on the production date of your car (it can be found on the drivers door jam sticker or placard on the drivers side of the dash) you may need a TCU programming by the dealer. Ask them to look at SI B84 32 06. This is for a pairing problem not specifically the problem you are having but it would give you the latest firmware in the car so its worth a try but only if your car applies for the update. Please post either the pro date of your car or the last 7 digits of your vin #. Also they can try deleting all devices from the car and clearing any fault memories in the module and then trying again. If the problem then still exists then you need to take it up wth Sprint and see if they have any firmware updates coming up to fix the problem. The screen bug really sounds like a phone issue more than anything but the other things I mentioned are worth a try.
Regards,
