Thumbs up RESOLVED - Phonebook transfer problems

The phonebook of my v710 loaded perfectly the first time I paired and 'activated' my phone with the X5... but I just re-did my whole contact list, and when I hopped back in the X5 this afternoon and activated bluetooth on my phone, the nav screen said 'updating phonebook' for only a second or two, and then it only displayed 10 (out of about 90) of the contacts in my phone's contact list.
Is there something I need to reset since I re-did my whole phonebook? Maybe un-pair, and then re-pair the phone?

I just did the same thing with my Motorola Razor V3 phone (updated the complete contacts list) and experienced the same problem. I just turned the phone "off" and then "on" (while in the car) and the phone book loaded perfectly. Try that first. I don't remember if I turned the car off/on, too. I read a thread on this board where someone had a similar experience and just did that.

UCrewX5 has disabled reputation
I'm not aware of a way to "unpair" a phone on the 2005 Motorola ULF (other than pairing 4 other phones so that the first one cycles off the list).

If you ask me, the V710 is just completely flakey, and while it works in some cases it still isn't completely stable due to Verizon's forcing Motorola to disable some key BT components. So far it seems that the e815 is much more stable.

I am sure you are right, blaming Verizon. I have the same V710, but with Alltel, who has not crippled BT in any way. My V710 has been just like my X5--works perfectly every time (separately and paired!).

Thanks JJF - I did try rebooting the phone, and also restarting the X5, but not at the same time... maybe I'll try that first.

I think you can just delete the X5 as a paired 'device' form the phone's bluetooth menu... I've had the v710 for over a year now, and I've actually been pretty happy with it. I know that it's bluetooth feature set is somewhat limited, but I'm just happy Verizon finally put out a phone that has it at all!

Exclamation Still won't transfer properly!!

Just tried deleting the X5 as a device from the phone, and re-pairing it... same issue. Only 10 contacts are transferred from the 80 or so on the phone
The Bluetooth instruction book details a procedure to delete all paired devices from the X5, but the procedure doesn't work on my '05 (it activates the VR instead... )

At this point, I don't know what else to do except delete all my contacts on the phone, and sstart over.
If anyone has any more useful suggestions, please help!!

RESOLVED my contact transfer issue...

Turns out it was something very minor, but difficult to identify in my case...
Since the X5 BT system won't recognize whether contacts are home/work/mobile, etc, I modified all entries in my 'Mobile Contact List' in Outlook to indicate what type of number they were. I did so by adding "-m" for mobile, "-w" for work, or "-h" for home.

e.g.
Smith, Bob -m
Smith, Bob -h
Jones, Sara -w

After that, only about 10 of my contacts transferred

As it turns out, most of my contacts have multiple numbers, so there were only a handful that did not have a dash in the name... well, after staring at the screen for a few minutes, I realized that it was only these same contacts that transferred properly - NONE with a dash transferred at all!!
So that was it... if there was a dash in the name the BMW BT system didn't recognize it, and omitted it from the transfer (every other character seems to work fine). So I just removed the dash from all of the contacts, resynced, and VOILA, problem solved

The BT system iin my X5 recognized contacts M, H, W just fine wihen I used my T637. It was really nice. Since I switched to a razr, it no longer does that. And no snap-in adapter!
