Thumbs up Parrot BT kit

Just thought I would share this with the group. We have the BT in the X5 and I really wanted something similiar in my GMC truck. I recently added the Parrot 3200 LS and it works great. It has most of the features that the BMW BT does plus a few others. One feature I like is you have the ability to transfer the call back the head set by pressing the talk button. Great for times when you have a passenger and need to have a semi private call. Sound quality on both sides is very good, better than the BMW... people tell me that they can't tell I'm using a hands free kit.

It also has the ability to easily switch between pair devices. The only option I wish it (and the BMW BT kit) had was a mute button. I'm probably going to put a switch on the MIC and make my own muting circuit.

I bought the kit from Costco.com, it was a little more $, but I love the 'no questions asked' return policy if I have problems. I bought installation cables from Quick Connect which made the installation a no brainer. They have an adapter to allow you to use the steering wheel controls from the BMW, which makes this an alternative to the integrated kit.

Very cool. Thank you for the write-up. I have been thinking about the Parrot system for my wife's Acura.

Good find. I'll have to look into it. How much did you pay at Costco?

I have a Parrot ck3100 in my work truck and it works great. You can install one in any vehicle since the kits are truly universal.

I bought my Parrot car kit and harness from www.safewireless.com and couldn't be happier! Great customer service, a lost art in today's market place.

Nice write-up, the parrot 3200 ls is an ideal choice if you don't have OEM, and as you say quite a few of the OEM features, not all but a good few.

Just a small point though.

You can do this on the OEM setup, just press the shouting man button in the centre console and it will transfer the call from the car to the phone (and Vice-versa), i agree a handy feature, OEM will even auto transfer the call from the phone to the car when you start the car (while on the phone).

Now that does indeed sound like a good idea, I wish I'd thought of that when I did my retrofit, I would have added it.

I had no idea that was possible. I'll have to try that. Thanks!
