Did the microphone ever work and then stopped working? Did you just add TCU/ULF or was it factory installed?
I have read that you should check to make sure the microphone is installed correctly with the arrow pointing towards the front of the car. Also if your mic is older then 04(i think) there is an upgraded version. Hope this helps. GL, let us know how you make out. Last edited by Dani; 11-25-2009 at 10:19 AM. |

Is there a mic installed? Are you assuming one is there because you see the louvered cover? Did you install mic or dealer? Is it plugged in correctly? |

Sorry about bad information! More Info. Car is E83 09/2004 with BMW Professional nav and BMW Bluetooth (Original phone adapter in middle armrest is for Nokia 6310). I tested it with Nokia E66 and couple older Nokia model and all phones works same. Car connect perfectly to phones and phonebook and SMS updated correctly. I can call and answer calls and I can hear friends speaks from speakers but they can't hear me. Even if I press speak button in wheel I can't use speak commands but I think that I don't have that options in my car?

If you hold down "Talking Man" button and did not get the Voice Recognition "beep" then your TCU may not be VR capable. Seems a lot of TCUs made in 2004 did not have VR see list here. Here is what I would check, from simplest to more complex (expensive). 1. Try deleting paired phones and then repairing. 2. Take mic out (confirm there is one under plastic cover) and check plug, if it is the older mic you probably want to put in the newer mic, make sure arrow points toward front of car. 3. Check for SES jumper plug, I discovered a wiring issue when tracing wires through Jumper Plug. Remote possiblity that there is a wiring issue. 4. TCU is bad

New pairing didn't help. Mic is installed ok. I can't find SES jumper plug. I tried find it in trunk and arm rest. Rear window cleaner hose was broken in center console. Do you know is the mic cable in same place? I put the new hose so I didn't see the broken place. Can I check the mic cable in some way. I notice that wires for mic is yellow and black but in ULF socket there is many yellow/black wires. Do you have ULF socket wire diagram? Thank's about nice answers!
