old-skool plug-in to new-skool Bluetooth
It works if I pop my sim in, but obviously that's a bit of a pain every time. So, what are my options? I've searched for a few days and can only find retrofits for cars with nothing installed — I'm guessing mine must already have a mic, speaker (possibly) and maybe an antenna? Will this be of any use with a BMW Bluetooth retrofit, or will I need to replace it all. |

Check with the parts counter guys at the dealer by you. If I remember right there is a bluetooth adapter that snaps in the same spot as the old moto phone, and it actually worked seamlessly once the initial pairing was done.

If the phone is a Moto V60, there is a BT adaptor, avilable on eBay.

Find the TCU in the boot (many pictures available on google search and google images on the subject). Locate the plug, check if it is a DB25 or a 54 pin . I suspect the former. If you are located in the US you cna buy an adaptor for about £60, or build one for about £20 if you can solder. You will then need all the parts, including BT antenna, BT module, brackets etc. There are some excellent DIY phot retrofits on Google and Google images. |
