new bluetooth module included the voice

need to know if the new bluetooth modules come with build in voice module or not? I would like to use full voice capabilities to control the nav and the phone? Do I need to buy both of the modules? voice and BT?
Thanks

The newer Visteon BT modules come with voice recognition that controls both the phone and the nav systems.

The newer Motorola BT/Assist modules (mid 2004 and newer X5's) come with voice recognition that controls only the phone.

How will the module work

Will it have two plugs, one for the blue connector for the voice activation and the second connection for the phone?
Is it the same install, or will it be harder?
I'm looking at the options: The car has the blue connector in the back and I assume it has the wiring for the phone also. I will need the mic and the module or modules. The car doesn't have the assist option.
Thanks again,
Will the visteon module be compatible with all the phones that motorola module is? Is it a list with part # 's for it?

With a 2003 you have a pretty straightforward install. See http://www.xoutpost.com/showarticle-190.html for an idea of what's involved. You will need to install a Visteon BT module, which has the voice recognition functions built in. The blue connector will not be used, and you will need to keep the terminating plug installed on it (called the SES plug).

Check with Randy at http://eiskits.com for all the components you will need. Tell him you are an X5world member

The voice recognition that controls only the phone only works when a phone is connected correct?

"Mid" 2004? So does a 07/04 build have Bluetooth capability? My stlr told me I had it, and it has a code, but I keep hearing they didnt start installing them until 10/04 builds.

No What I meant by this statement is the Motorola BT/Assist module will work in an X5 from 03/04 production and on, not that the module that is there will work. 2004's built past 03/04 can get BT/Assist only if they swap their TCU with a 2005 unit. 2004's built pre-03/04 can still get BT if they use the Visteon BT module, but they will lose Assist.
