Is Bluetooth worldwide

Can anyone answer a basic bluetooth question, is the system worldwide or do different countries have different frequencies.
Reason for question is that I will be exporting my US spec X5 to the UK next year and wanted to know if my bluetooth module fitted standard to my 05 X will work with a UK cell that has bluetooth enabled.

Thanx in advance.

Thanx,
I just had a look through the bmw compatability chart, it does appear that the part number for the modules US/ECE are different by one digit. But hopefully when I am looking for a new UK cell when I get home , I can choose one from the BMW uk approved list.I should be ok cos my x has a bulid date of 12/04 and the choices improved after that date.

Yes it does cause I just got a module on ebay from someone in Sweden and retrofitted on my 01 and it's flawless!

My dealer just sold a 2006 M5 to a local client. When they paired the blackberry to the bluetooth TCU, the system recognized the Mandarin characters in the blackberry and started speaking in Mandarin...now that's global!!!

I found the link to the BMW UK bluetooth compatability very usefull on this site.
But you have to read the details of each phone carefully, beacuse there are so many models of phone that are only slightly different .It is good that BMW has tested the phones with the cars and listed their levels of compatability.
So when I come to get my phone I will use the list to find the most suitable and then hope that my service provider has that phone available.
