So I completed the Bluetooth kit from bimmernav, pretty easy to do. I am really happy with the results, so first of all thank you guys/gals.
My bluetooth works great, I dont have the iphone 4 snap in adapter... when I get this can music be played from my phone to my sterio? I dont have Navigation, not yet... that is phase II |

No, the snap-in only charges the phone and optionally connects the phone to the car's antenna (if the phone is capable).
Playing music is a totally different adaptation. If you have a newer car, your radio will have the aux input. That is usually the easiest way to play music from an iPhone. If you have a 2002 or earlier, then you either need to upgrade to a New Gen radio, get one of those CD changer emulator adapters, or hard wire into the radio's tape input. I have an iPhone, Bluetooth, and a radio with aux input. Because of all that, the snap-in is useless. I have a dock adapter cable that both charges and feeds the phone's line-level output into the car's aux input. In a totally cool world, I could install a snap in, and modify that dock plug to grab the same line level output. However, my hunch is that the snap-in lacks those wires and a home remedy mod probably would not work out that well.

So basically if I also installed a Navi retrofit as well, then maybe with the snap in?

No, navigation is totally independent of the Bluetooth system and the snap-in.
You can upgrade the radio in a non-nav X5 to a new gen with aux input.

I dont have Navigation, not yet... that is phase IIYes, it can be done, but there is nothing out there to buy off the shelf. This was an early test cradle I made. Stage 1 (proof of concept) ![]() I can plug the iphone in and it connectes to my Intravee (ipod interface), it allows charging and playback of music (stereo) through the cars audio system, has ID3 info on screen and is fully control-able via the MFSW and/or screen buttons. There is a video on youtube that I made (but it wont let me include a link here), so search in youtube for "Iphone 4/4s Modded snapin with an intravee connection" Stage 2 will be video output to screen too.
