Newbie Here

Hello everyone,
Newbie here and need some help from the experts.

I have an 03 M5 with MK4 Nav System.

When I press the talking man on the console nothing happens, I can do it on the Steering wheel but not on the console, this once worked in the past.

How would I go about checking the connections?

Also when I looked in the trunk I did see the ULF ? along with a Passkey, so does this means that I have bluetooth and it will work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you paired your phone yet? Those two buttons, whilst they have the same logo, do not have the same connections. If you have a ULF, once you pair your phone the console button should start working.

You need to find out if you have a ULF or a TCU and find the pairing instructions online. An X5 may need the driver's seatbelt inserted to complete the pairing.

Thanks Big Bob,
the one that has the passkey on what is that? I recently upgraded my NAV software as well and no longer see the Bluetooth selection, i just found this out last night when going through the computer settings.

TELEPHONE should always be visible in the menu. If it is not there, pull the vehicle battery for 30 minutes.

Yes the device with the passkey is your wireless module. There are TCUs and ULFs, and they have different pairing procedures, A TCU is bigger. There are also different versions, not all are as reliable as the others, some early ones don't even support bluetooth, despite having the logo.

My suggestion would be to find the way to clear all previous pairings and then pair your phone.

Thanks Bob,
I do see the Telephone selection in the screen but not the bluetooth selection, before the upgrade, I once did see that one as well.

What can I do about the feature on the armrest that is not working?
