Bluetooth - got factory nav but no phone prep

Bought a late 2003 X5 3.0d Sport Auto nearly two weeks ago. The first owner specified the car with nav / tv but no phone? Whats the best option (and economical) to get a nokia 6230 working bluetooth through nav and steering wheel buttons?

Thanks

ps the car is great!

I'd love to help, but I haven't seen the solution to this problem. Fortunately for those in North America, virtually all of the X5's produced for this market region came with the phone prep. Hence, we haven't had to tackle this particular issue.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance, but if I come across a solution I'll be sure to make it available here.

After some further research, here's what I think you need. The kit you need to buy if your car does NOT have option S640A installed is part # 84 64 0 153 227. BMW listed the price at approximately 750 Euros (without snap-in holder, plus tax) and the installation time is somewhere around 10 hrs. It involves running a new wiring harness (loom) in the vehicle, which is why the installation time is that high.

Good luck.

If you aren't going to go the BMW OEM route then there's tons of Bluetooth gadgets out there to consider. But in my opinion the simplest and most elegent solution is just using a Bluetooth headset. Motorola has the HS850, HS820, and HS810. And there are plenty of other alternative BT headsets out there as well. A good place for recommendations on those is at http://www.howardforums.com/forumdis...hp?forumid=201

Good Luck!
