It works. The sound comes out, and it charges your IPod. You are limited to 5 playlists, which show up on the 5 radio buttons. Not much more to say.
Before you install it, or pay to have it installed, you could still get the IceLink Plus, and sell the BMW part. Not having the limit on playlists, having the choice of IceLink or IPod interfaces, navigating playlists/albums/artists from the steering wheel, plus the text display, has resulted in the vast majority preferring the Dension product. Even my dealer likes the Dension interface. The issue is that if you want to stay OEM, you can put in the BMW aux input for much less money, and add a 12v charger. That leaves you with pretty much the same functionality as the IPod Your BMW kit. But to answer your original question, yes, it works for what it is intended to do.
