Am I correct in saying that I can ''piggyback" off of the XM direct with the ice>link and have both functionality? Or is this wrong?

I'm not sure why you would want to do this, the XM direct allows for a CD Changer and the XM device to run as seperate options in the radio.

Yes - they will both integrate as if offered from the factory. Each one will be a different selection on your MID screen.

no Tom, i got that part. My question is, if I get the XM direct kit and install it first, can i add the ice>link (w/o the AUX) to that , since the XM direct retains the CD changer controls... This way i can listen to XM and then hop to the iPod if needed...

Absolutely! The XM Direct works perfectly with the ice>Link Plus.

Ps, The fedEx guy just called and he has a package for me. im leaving work in about 20 minutes to go meet him. I wonder what it could be.... ????

And for the last question, what will my options be when changing modes with the XM installed and then the ice>link plus?

If you already have the ice>Link installed - nothing will change in the form of options. Everything will function as if it were offered from BMW. You will see the normal modes you have currently along with a new "Sirius" mode(since the XM Direct is actually emulating a Sirius device) which will quickly turn to XM.
