Try driving for a short while and see if they go out on their own. I'm betting they will.

here are some pics.

you gouys were right, went for a ride and the lights went back to normal in the dash. here is link to the new alpine system

http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...hp?model=PLT-5

its not a normal setup. it sounds like 2 tens in a sealed box but it is actually 7 little 5 inch woofers. hard to explane but if you read the tech specs you'll get the idea.

How does it sound? I was reading about it in the Crutchfield catalog. I don't think it'll drive me away from my current project (should be done first week of July), but something to consider.

Also, need pics of the install or there will be consequences. Most of us are challenged and big words scare us; we need pics.

Talking some pics

ok here are some pics. sorry about some of them being blury, my camera is running low on a charge. the wiring was pretty straight foward. i followed everything from the article. the hardest part for me was figuing out the plug that goes into the stock amp for the bmw stereo has a plastic cover that comes off to expose two set of actual plugs. i unpinned the wires i needed from the plug and sodered the subwires to the stock wiring harness of the car. then covered everything in electric tape so nothing would come loose. the remote wire is hooked up to the harness that goes to the bmw cd changer. it is purple with a white stripe. the only one in the harness so it is easy to find. i ran a ground wire down by te battery. when you take out the spare tire you will see the battery. if you trace the big red cables they go to a distribution block. i ran my power wire striaght to the main feed on the block. i hate seeing the battery cluddered with cables. i ordered wthe factory cd charger off of ebay so that should be going in real soon. in al it took me about 3 hours, could have been 2 but i was to busy chatting with a neighbor who stopped by. have fun

almost forgot. the pic that is labeled shoes the speaker wires you need to tap. the article in the main page explains this better.

That's something different - it looks a little like a toaster or an old 1980's IBM magnetic tape drive. But definitely an interesting piece of engineering. The speakers are facing each other?

The speakers are facing each other, but probably 180 degrees out of face...so that when one is pushing, the other is pulling.

btole,
How does it sound...the most important question? Since it's a ported design, I would expect it to be a bit muddy at times?
