Replace tape behind NAV w/ CD?

Hi all, visiting from M5Board... I've got an 03/03 build E39 M5 w/ MkIV NAV. Behind the NAV is a cassette player, why? I have no idea. Anyway, I'll never use it and would like to have a single CD in the dash in addition to the changer in the trunk. Anyone know if this has been done and what I would need?

Thanks

bmw never made a cd player behind a 16 x 9 screen that would fit in an e39. maybe beable to fit one from a 3 series or x5 but expect to do some custom brackets and trim pieces to get it to work. there is no simply bolt in that i know of. hope this helps a little
