Will iPod video work with my aftermarket headunit?

I'm thinking of buying the new iPod video player. I mainly want to use it to hold all my music video instead of having 20+ dvd's the the X. Should there be any issues with hooking it up to my AUX inputs on my headunit. How is the picture and sound quality? Also do you have to buy from the iTunes store exclusively with iPod? Or can I still download from any internet site that I'm already subscribed to? TIA Rob

Gateway (which is not even being manfactured) will not work with this setup. The bigger question is does your Aftermarket HU have Video Display?

No worries - I missed it at the very beginning as well.

Yes it does. I used to have my rear camera hooked up to the Aux video input. Right now I only have the Audio inputs hooked up with my MP3 Player. I see that Ipod sells a wiring kit that comes with A/V outputs and a cigarette lighter adapter. Any insight on how it works? TIA Rob

Ipod Video has direct video out. You just select "TV ON" from the video setup menu on the IPOD, plug in the cable and route it to your head unit. The video quality is better that you would expect. I use IPOD Video with my factory nav HU via the PNVI video adapter. ALSO, get the charger adapter for sure because IPOD Video ony lasts about 2 hours when playing videos.

Do you have a regular iPod? This device will allow for videos to play on your Video screen without the need for a video-specific iPod:

iLink-L2 Multimedia Interface for iPod

The device has A/V outputs, will charge the iPod and has an included wireless remote.
