retrofit Nav with Cassette to Nav with CD

Hi,

I have an e46 facelift 300Ci Conv. with SatNav + TV. To install an ICELiNK Plus I sacrificed the multi-changer in the boot. Thus leaving me with a Cassette head-unit that will never see a tape and no way of playing CD's. If I wanted to replace the cassette component with a CD player, would I need to have the entire unit replaced (inc. screen etc.) or is the tape/CD unit modular and would easily swap out?

Cheers

Floyd

I believe what needs to be changed are the backend portion of the dash unit (the screen that flips up can be reused) and the radio module. If I recall correctly, your current radio module won't recognize the CD player.

Is this the 4:3 or 16:9 navigation (widescreen) w/ cassette?

Tom,

It is the 16:9 display with Cassette, ideally a CD player would be what I was after, but if it is possible to put a DVD player in there then I would be willing to entertain that possiblily.

it probably hits everyone with nav/tv - why put a cassette player in 2005 car? if the option would be available, i am sure the will a group buy from this forum. also from bmwclub.ru - this issue has been discussed there already and everyone is in favour of this idea. so if any one has any news on that please let us all know
