stealthbox with A1400 amp

anyone have the A 1200 amp? I have the A1400 and its to much bass I have the gain all the way down and the base is still to much, anyway to fix? or anyone want to make a partial trade for their A1200

What headunit are you using? Have you messed with the bass controls through that as well? I would guess you have.

I have the stock nav dsp unit, and I have tried it with the dsp on with different settings, off and I have tried both on and off and changed the treble and bass adjustments, but at low volume the bass is to much, its kinda anoying to me, and my wife hates it, when its cranked up then it sounds like it fits not to much, it fits well, any clue? I never saw an amp that you could not set the gain down to nothing.

That is really odd that your A1400 and Stealthbox is that loud. I had to ADD power to get it to come alive. Can you remind us where you tapped the speaker level inputs from? You don't have 80hz cranked in the DSP EQ by chance, do you? Also, make sure your bass in the tone settings is flat or negative, bass boost is OFF on the A1400, the low pass (LP) filter should be on, and the LP frequency should be around 60hz+-. You might want to readjust your input sensitivity control and input voltage setting (high).

One other thing... if you are somehow running that amp in some configuration below 4 ohms you might want to change that.

The A1400 is a great amp so I hope you can get this worked out by tweaking your setup.

the speaker level imputs were tapped from the old speakers that were in there, I used one set of them wired into RCA and into the amp.
80 is all the way downs on the dsp, the bass level is in the negative and even at lowest setting kinda helps a bit but then the sound quality sucks on the rest of the speakers.
bass boost is off, lp filter on, not sure what its at now, but tried at all freq;s on the amp.
what do you mean by reajusting inbput sensitivity control, and input voltagesetting?
and I dont think its running 4 ohms.
like I said before I never had an amp that I could not adjust down to nothing, kinda wierd?

If you went speaker level --> to Line level RCA, did you use a line out converter? I don't think it is required in most cases with this amp (rare), but sounds like in your case it is. Change the input voltage switch, and see if it helps and get an LOC to cut the voltage down if that is still needed. Your description of the behavior sounds like you may be overdriving the input. An LOC is not expensive and just take a minute to install.

There is no volume control or gain on this amp, it is a sensitivity control which requires the adjustment noted near the end of the manual. The sub is 4 ohms. If you wired it straight to the amp that is 4 Ohm load.

ok, no I did not use a LOC, didnt think I needed to.
yes its runing 4 ohm, I thought it said two... or I dont know what I thought it said.
the sensitivity is what I was refering to as the Gain. yes I have adjusted both ways to no avail.
for the lp filter should it be off, 12 or 24?
gonig to go try a few thing right now, thanks for all the help so far.

With the LP filter in the off position, you will get whatever signal the factory amp was sending to the OEM subs which is supposed to be somewhere around 80hz and down. It sounded more like 100hz in my X5. If you turn it on, 12dB slope is fine, you will ensure than nothing much above your filter point will enter the amp's output section and on to the subwoofer. IMO, it is a good idea to have it on so you can keep potentially muddy upper-bass from entering your stealthbox. Good luck!

tried everythign again, nothing works , I unplugged one RCa and it kinda helped but not enogh any more ideas , guess I will try the loc

if I switch it off it is high level, but it is also loud as hell, it easily doubles the volume of the base.
