For those of you with Riches bezel...

I got my bezel from rich the other day for my pioneer avic d1, double din, and my pioneer needs to move up abot half an inch for it to fit but thiers no room because theirs think plastic above it it fits snugly in thier ha, so i was wondering if everybody else cut this away or what thanks.

I was wondering the same thing. Seems to me it would be better to change the bezel instead of cutting away more of the dash. Cutting away more of the dash makes it harder to put the original MID back in place.

Did you end up cutting away more of the factory bracket? Can you show a picture of what it looks like without the bezel? I would like to center my Z1 the way you have your D1 centered.

yea i had to take a drimmel and cut up about half of an inch on the top part and actually ended up cutting tha whole piece out, i figure i will have this car for a while and i will probably just end up selling it like it is. I also had to switch the way i had the brackets to make it sit back further. I will try and get a picture for you tommorw. but i just messed with it and got it all worked out and now im pleased i think ha

Chade yes please try and post a pic without the bezel.

I also installed mine and I ended cutting the upper part of the dash. It took me almost half day but at the end I managed not to bucher the dash. I only cut the part needed to center the head unit. I have kept the parts that I removed and in case I want to revert back to the original stereo (like if I want to sell the car) a couple of drops of CA or epoxy and everything is again back in stock condition.

The head unit is perfectly centered between the two verticle plastics of the dash. I used 4 bolts and secure the installation frame of my double din head unit and I am just sliding in the head unit. If I want to remove it it's a piece of cake as I only use the removal tools that came with it and I am just pulling it out.

I made four holes in line to the installation frame so I can adjust how far in or out it will sit on the dash.

The only think that I am still trying to figure out is how I will secure the bezel. Even if it fits nice above the head unit without anything holding it in place I'd like to secure it somehow. A fellow member here told me to use two piece of metal and secure it behind the dash trim. Is this how you secured yours?

Rich,
I may be looking at getting one of your Bezels soon... I have picked interest back up as the Avic D-3 is a much improved product.

I am guessing you do not need to do anything to the bezel. It is perfectly centered. It seems as if you have to cut a bit off of the plastic on the top of the housing to get the case for the unit to be able to be centered. The only other way is to have it rest at the bottom, from what I have seen. IMHO, I think the totaly centered look really looks most professional.

-Sterling

p.s. What is your current turnaround time for the bezels? Not still one month as mentioned above, is it?

Thanks for your post. Currently, all X5 bezels ship within a few days of ordering (1-4 aprox.).

Can someone send me a pic of their double-din installed with the bezel removed?

Rich
Rich please do the monitor style for our cars. You show an Alpine Visual Hub system for the e46. Can you please do this for us, or contact me about the pricing for one of the TME Alpine monitors.
