Thumbs up Ice>Link Install into Front Ash Tray Area - Part 1

Project Goal: Install the iPod and Ice>Link in the front tray so it is hidden and fully functional.

End Result: All works except song tags, so far...
  1. Parts
  2. Hooking into the two CD changer cables
  3. Removing the outer cushion by simply pulling the top section forward
  4. Wiring through the side panel into back seat area
  5. Wiring along edge to front seat
  6. Wiring under front seat and up into center console
  7. Using a coat hanger to poke the PS2 connector end of the dock cable down through the console
  8. Connected IceLink
  9. Aftershots

Enjoy the shots. Thanks for Mr UCrew for his last minite assistance!

Ice>Link Install into Front Ash Tray Area - Part 4

Part 4

This is where I had to shove the PS2 connector end of the docking cable through the little hole in the ash tray cavity. Tape and coat hanger!

Ice>Link Install into Front Ash Tray Area - Part 5

Final product.

I left enough length in the docking cable to allow my passenger to pull out the iPod to manually control it, if desired.

It is also nicely hidden once the door is closed.

Very nice Chris, a great stealth location and you don't lose the cupholder

I assume being sans song tags is because you haven't downloaded the MP3 control files yet?

Glad I could be of assistance!

Jeff

I actually downloaded the song tag .MP3 files and followed the procedure (or so I thought). I put them on my iPod then:
1. Navigated to the Genre\text_nav.mp3 file and pressed play
2. Immediately hooked up the dock cable with the radio ON and in CD mode
RESULT: IceLink switched the iPod to the previous song it was playing before I unplugged it.

Next, I use the iPod User Interface while it was connected to play the text_nav.mp3 file. Result: It played the 60 second file but then just moved on to the next file named no_text.mp3 (or similar name). It never said DONE or OK TO DISCONNECT. It just played it like a song.

During this process of multiple attempts my iPod seemed to lose its mind a lot and needed a warm boot via the menu+center-button hold-down.

Hmmm....
