Strange CD Audio Connector in my X5!

REPOST IN CORRECT FORUM!

Hi!

I have been lurking around for a while reseraching X5s and finally took the plunge and bought an 04/04 build X5 3.0d!

As part of a job lot of Navigation parts from a mid 06 4.8is I received a CD changer which I tried to fit today.

According to hacktheibus (attached) there should be a 3 pins IBUS connector and a 6 pin CD Audio connector. The IBUS is fine and attaches to the Changer. The problem is that the 6 pin connector on the car has an additional plastic surround that clips to it which adds two triangler protrusions which prevent the 6 pin connector going into the changer. The surround can be removed which will allow the 6 pin connector into the changer, but the 6 pin plug only has three wires, whereas hacktheibus shows 5. The wires I have are White with Blue Trace on pin 4, White with Red Trace on Pin 1 and White with Brown Trace on Pin 2. Accorsding to the diagram attached I would have left audio, right audio and left signal ground. I am thinking my car uses a common audio ground on pin 2 and hence pin 5 (right signal ground) is redundant. I think pin 3 is redundant (ground) as there is a vehicle ground on the 3 pin IBUS connection.

Before I remove the surround and plug the changer in I was hoping someone could confirm I am on the right track? I have searched all the forums and install manuals with luck!

Thanks for listening.

Kindest Regards,

Luke Jenner
