Can't Fast Forward after iPod Your BMW Install

So I just got an iPod your BMW kit for my 2002 X5 3.0 with Nav. Problem is that I can't fast forward or rewind from either my radio controls in the center console or from my steering wheel controls.

I used to be able to do this with my CD Changer by holding steering wheel controls down for 1.5 seconds or so.

The iPod your BMW kit's manual indicates that this is possible.

I can't imagine what I could be doing wrong. Is there a setting I have to enable? Right now, holding down the advance or rewind button on the dash only goes up or down 10 songs on the iPod playlist.
