Adding sirius to an older system

I understand it is possible to hook up sirius by changing out the old radio, has anyone had any luck with this as just plug & play or is it more technical? and if possible anyone have one they are looking to get rid of.

technical data
2001 740i Mk 2 Nav system with stock cd changer and 4.3 high Nav monitor & head.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Thanx

Much more work in your system. You'll need the following items to be Sirius compatible:

16:9 Widescreen Navigation Monitor

MKIV Navigation Computer (DVD-ROM) Upgrade
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=942

BMW Navigation Radio Tuner Upgrade - AUX & Sirius compatible
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=290

Audio Cable for analog DSP-equipped vehicles - open 3 pin
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=679

And of course, the Sirius system (same kit will apply in the 7):

Sirius Satellite Radio - e39 5-series/M5
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=271

There's a lot needed for the upgrade, but you will be updating your system to 2003+ specs and have a overall better NAV system with faster processing speed, better graphics and of course....Sirius compatibility.

sounds like you would be better off getting a dice, and using the AUX input for sirius
