OK Tom! I was just going by the DICE manual. It just stated the Car DIP switches (left 2) be off and on (for my radio system...the sweet tape deck..LOL) but if you guys prefer all up on the X5 then i will change the second switch to off on the Car DIP.

Will this help out the display to show all letters in an the artist, song name. It sucks when you it gets cut off after 11 letters.

THanks for all the info and about un-plugging the battery. So do i just need to un-plug the battery then i can make the switch and plug in the battery. Anything else are just u-plug the battery? Do i need to disconnect the 3 pin connector in the back?

Just the battery disconnect will be fine when your DIP switches are set.

Hi Tom,
I went to my X after work and plugged in the ipod before i started her up and it displayed (running) song, artist, and album. I turned off the X to run into daycare, started up and displayed all 3 and it work while i went in and out of stores. This had the DIP settings OFF, ON OFF, OFF.

Later in the night i went to go put the X in the garage and this time it only showed the 1st 11 letters of the song but did not show the artist and album (running). So i unplugged the battery and put the DIP setting to all OFF then plugged in the battery and it took alittle but displayed the song, artist, album.

This morning it only showed the 1st 11 letters of the song and did not show the artist and album???

I read the DICE manual again on the bus to work and read on page 8 when making the switch "disconnect the vehicle harness from module and cycle ignition off for 50 seconds after changing the switches."
I only disconnected the battery. Did i need to diconnect the harness from the DICE module at anytime?

Should i diconnect the vehicle harrness from the DICE module w/ the ingintion off for the 50 seconds when i get home?

Also does it matter it you plug in the ipod before starting the X up? Is it better to start the X up and then plug it in. It does not state anything in the manual. On my pioneer deck w/ ipod adpt i had to plug it in before turning the audio deck on.

On my ipod (when connected to DICE) it always displays "OK TO DISCONNECT" all the time. Is this normal because the DIP for ipod is OFF and OFF.

I have a 2001 X5 3.0i w/ DSP dig. and only the Cass. Tape Radio. I get text on the radio face.
I have the ipod Nano 1.1.3 and updated it before i did anything.

I get sound and everything seems to work only the display will only show the song w/ 1st 11 letters then does not run.

When they say reset the ipod does that mean reset the main menu only or reset ALL settings. Do i need to reset anything before i plug in my ipod?

I found the issue????

Tom,
I just got off the phone w/ DICE tech support and this issue that i have talked about has happened to others (above post). The engineers at DICE are in the process of upgrading the module box and should be ready in ~2 weeks. I was told to call back the tech support around that time to see if it is ready yet and then i can (anyone w/ issue) mail my DICE module back and get the upgraded one for no cost.

He told me that this has happened to other people (sometimes getting the full text, song, artist, album to scroll and then sometime it will not scroll and sit on the 1st 11 letters in the song) but they still do not know if it is only in the BMW set up or other makes.

Thought you might want to note this for EAS if others call about this issue.

Cheers,
Aaron

Hey thanks for the heads up... I did notice this 'strange' behavior but thought that was normal. DAMN... I should have put the DICE module in a more accessible place.
