I have an original DICE and have returned one due to this issue. My replacement occasionally will have the high-pitched whine or a hissing noise. I have found if I unplug the white plug connected directly to the DICE unit and then replug it in, it usually clears up any noise. I have to do this every couple of months.

I want to try the alternate grounding - makes sense to ground it closer to the unit.

Definitely try that and report back. A lot of time getting multiple devices to share a ground causes positive results

Trunk or radio interface kit? Also, if equipped with DSP, are you using a digital DSP adapter?

I finally broke down & took it to a local car stereo specialist. They tried several things including a GFI and installing the noise filter closer to the unit - no luck.

They wonder if it could be the Dice unit itself. Before I ask for an exchange, does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks.
I have same problem here, but after i posted got no reply. I have analog, no CD changer, DICE mounted up front

Email is always the fastest way to reach us - is this a trunk or radio interface kit?

Raido,... I get a weird digital noise has been like this since install. Only way to listen to ipod is to turn it up so you cant hear the noise but when there is no sound or lack of music, it is very noticable

Check all connections to verify they are secure, if anything is loose - it can contribute to the noise.

The DICE could be picking up interference from other devices in the vehicle. You can try relocating the wire to see if the noise is diminished or if you cannot find the source of the noise - a ground loop isolator must be used.

Some BMWs are more sensitive to engine noise than others. Here is a link to the version we offer on the website:

12 Amp Power Noise Filter

Let me know if you have any further questions, or a radio harness would be an alternate solution.

Tom, I can say for certain this is not noise created from engine noise or anything of the sort.... For example engine noise or interferance will change pitch and frequency with acceleration. THe noise coming from the DICE untit does not do that. Anyone who has experienced this noice may be able to explain it much better than I can. The Noise is Digital
