But it would probably cost $200 for a two-channel unit, and you would need two if you retained fade.

Would this be of interest (assuming that it works as advertised)?
I'd definitely be interested in something like that if it could do the following (wish list):

1. Two sets of preamp outs if possible, strong 4v or better if possible. (one for fronts and one for sub, instead of Y-splitting)
2. Plug-n-play connector that adds the RCA's without disturbing the existing wiring. (ie... no cutting, etc)
3. The connectors would be OEM BMW grade connectors.

Another neat and very useful connector you could make for very little money..... Design a small module that goes inline after the amp and before the speakers. That way, it would allow the owner to easily disconnect the OEM speaker wiring so he/she can wire their amps directly to the existing speaker wire with a PnP connector, eliminating the need to pull new wire and retaining a very reversible stereo installation.

With these two modules, the one you mention and the one I mention, a great sounding stereo in the X5 would be a piece of cake. We would just need your HU interface, the speaker interface, a nice 3 or 4-ch amp or two amps, replace the speakers with drop in replacements, and add a sub. Viola.

I'd be happy to beta one of your modules when you get to that point. Perhaps your new xoutpost.com friends will get an awesome group buy rate on your first production run.

That makes sense El_duderino. It would be impossible to bring all your tools here. I appreciate the response and please let me know when this device might be ready.

Well, if we get the sub boxes productionized... then it's a lot easier.

i'd be in. would be nice if one unit could incorporate a subout connection; it might be worth making a run with and without the sub module.

i'd immediately buy two (with or without the sub module) for me, and then a bunch for whomever would want me to install systems in their cars! (as an enthusiast, not a business)...

BUMP

Its been a year!?

el_Duderino? Micah? If you make this, I know you will sell hundreds of them. They are low-cost/high-margin products. I will even buy the first one and be the guinea pig or beta test all you want.
