Yes, very happy. Would it be better if one could squeeze an extra liter or two out of it? I don't know and since I have no way to compare, I am happy in my ignorance. It is better than the previous 8" sub in a bigger, free-standing box and it is hidden happily away.

I am not convinced that the little wedge shape would add enough internal volume to be worth the extra work so I went 11.5 straight across.

BTW, does anyone know where to get a socket with wires for the speaker level input.?

I got a used mrp-m450, and im not sure if its included. Are they provided when the amp is bought new.?

The socket was included with the new amp. I think one of the guys here managed to get it.. review the previous 30 pages

You can see it in this pic

I saw on page 9 that there was a link to someone called Marissa. But i could'nt work out the link..

I've looked around, and it appear that the socket is just like the squere 4pin molex connection used for power cables in computers. (not hte flat ones)

Can someone verify this.?

That would be an easy fix in case..

Or, if anyone have an easy alternative, it would be much appreciated.

Am I correct in assuming that the enclosure was designed because this was the best place to put an "out of the way" sub in the trunk? Is there any space to put one under the back seats instead?

What would be really useful if someone is inclined is a full list of what hardware is required to complete this mod (and thanks Essam for all your work so far), in terms of wires, systems etc. I understand that people's systems may presently be set up in different ways but I for example have stock sound with no DSP or NAV and assume I need a load of stuff to add an amp and sub. Anyone thought about replacing speakers as well?

You should be able to order a 'socket' (4-pin molex) Alpine amp connector (same for their different amp series) from their parts distributor: www.pacparts.com
It's P/N 01E11136S01

or:
Customer Service Melissa Marin (Representative) of PacParts, Inc.

In our X5, there's no free space under the seats, only in the (2) rear quarter panel sections in the cargo area.

.....that is the problem. Everyone learns the hook-up for their particular system. You're in luck because a lot of guys here have the 'vanilla' stock sound setup that you have. You need only make the wire connections and then you'll love the sound you get from your 'upgraded' system.

Towards the beginning of this thread, Essam, Carlgo and others talked about replacing their factory door and dash speakers to get better sound.

I have DSP and Nav and it was only the addition of this subwoofer enclosure that made my system come to life! The factory (fiberglass) subwoofer with its twin 5" speakers that came with my X5 was a joke, but I'm a happy camper now that I installed the Essam Box BTW, if you're interested, I have (4) used Pioneer midbass speakers (1 for each door) complete with their speaker pods (that I thought I would need) from a guy who had upgraded his X5 factory speakers before he traded it in. Send PM

10 min, you say!

What is that aluminum rod above the speaker?

BTW, and this is embarrassing, the old "8-inch" sub that was replaced by the 10" Essam sub was really a 10. I never measured it until I sold it to a Toyota salesman (who said he was only selling 4-5 cars a month!). Anyway, the short throw Pioneer 10 in the little Essam box outperforms a nice Sola-baric 10 in a bigger box. Technology marches on and clearly Pioneer has done a very nice job making that speaker work like it does. I notice the new ones look different now, so maybe even better.
