Subwoofer Project FINISHED!!! (Enclosure Dimensions Included)

Finally I decided to pull the trigger!

Information:

Subwoofer: Pioneer Shallow 25cm (10") Sub TS-SW251
It only needs 0.35 cu. ft. enclosure
http://www.pioneer-uae.com/product_d...cat=1&subcat=4

Thanks zerochief for the idea http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...stom+installed

Amplifier:
Alpine MRP-M350 1 Channel V-Power Class-D Mono Amplifier
700W Max - 200W RMS
http://www.audiogearreviews.com/revi...ne_mrp-350.asp

Enclosure
After several attempts using cupboards, I came out with the below design and dimensions. This should roughly give 15 Liters of volume (0.53 cu. ft.) which is higher than the minimum recommended enclosure volume for the sub.

I will start installation after the carpenter finishes the enclosure. I will keep you updated with the results.

You will find the design and dimensions of the enclosure on the following posts....

I will do the installation on Thursday (my weekend)... and yes, I will do it myself for the first time in my life

I spoke to a lot of car audio technicians here but unfortunately they are all "scared" to touch the BMW OEM audio system. They refused to do it!

The enclosure will be ready by tomorrow. I will post pics as soon as I have it and the fit is OK.

I already have the speaker wires for amp speaker level input and for the sub output. I will get a good power and ground cables from Raidoshack and I also have the crimp and snap connector to tap on the OEM wires. It looks like this:

This article is very useful: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/s...ctory-amp.html

Amp was wired today as per the below pics... You can tap into the OEM amp plug as follows:

Channel 1: Blue with Black stripe (+) twisted with Brown with Orange stripe (-)

Channel 2: Yellow with Black stripe (+) twisted with Brown with Orange stripe (-)

Remote: White single Wire

Power: I used the green box behind the spare tire to the left. I had three empty slots

Ground: There is a ground bolt under the handle you use to pull the spare tire out.

I still did not make the final wiring routes and still did not secure the amp in place below the NAV drive. Tomorrow I will paint the box and install the sub then finalize everything. Box details will be in the next post.

and here are the pics:

and now the enclosure box ... after trials and errors the below dimensions are the final result ... I lost some enclosure volume but it is still within the recommended range (the new volume is around 14.25 liters, 0.5 cu. ft). It fits perfectly in place!

It was made from MDF 1.8cm thickness on the sides, bottom, and top. For the face and the back I used 0.8cm MDF. I sealed it using clear wood silicon from inside and outside in addition to pressurized nails. Gonna paint it tomorrow then install the sub. Will use Enamel spray paint (black).

now with the pics before painting...
