Ok, this might be in this huge thread already, but can someone tell me the optimal amp setting... I have the alpine amp too, but having to use the RCA line output converter, anyone using this?

So two questions:

1. how high does eveyone have their alpine amp... what gains etc? can you tell me your settings?

2. if you are using the RCA line output converter, what setting do you have on this? All the way up or....???

The reason I ask, is I have somehow blown two pioneer subs... not sure if my box is too small or what, I do have fiber in there to help with size...

Anyways, any info would help.

Thanks

Michael

Hey Michael, any chance I can take a listen to your setup? I live in Meridian off Blackcat and Ustick. I might be able to help you tune it as well.

Sorry bro, I live in Reno, NV now, haven't updated my profile, sorry about that....

It sounds great, when it's not blown lol... I upgraded the sub to a TS-SW2541D, but wanted to wait to install it until I can get some feedback on the RCA Line output settings and the Alpine Amp itself.

Anyone?

Michael

I have family in Spanish Springs, so maybe I can listen then. The only thing I can recommend is maybe just run to some stereo shop and ask them to help ya tweak it a little...theyve usually got a better ear for that stuff than most do. Maybe you're just pushing the sub too hard, or underpowering the upgraded one. You'll blow speakers w/ distortion quicker than too much power.

I still have the sub, the box, and the amp after I sold the X
My E93 is having the LOGIC7 system and it doesn't really need any upgrade.
I wish I could offer the old setup for sale but shipping from Saudi will cost way too much!

My advice dcashion, get the same setup... The sound was amazing.

Thanks. I will be building one of your boxes ;-) just need to find out what sub and amp to buy as I believe the ones you used would now be no longer available.

I'm on my third box now.... first one, too big, scrapped it. Second one, too big, tried to fine tune it by sanding, ending up sanding too much and left seals weak and brittle. Now I'm on my third box, have measured about 2093049234 times, will be hopefully completing it tomorrow.Going to get sound deadening material, and mounting bracket as well now. will upload with pics.
Using a pioneer 10'' shallow mount.
When I bought them I got two, didn't plan on using just one with the amount of power they have. So I have an extra one laying around if anybody is looking for one

All that work and you will still probably end up with less airspace that the stock sub enclosure. I did what you did about 3x as well, then came across a stock enclosure and just refaced it like others have done. There is one on eBay now for around $30, much easier to work with, trust me.
