I went to have avic f90bt installed on my 2005 x5 ..the guy told me that they would have to run wires to all the speakers. I dont have DSP and dont believe that i have an amplifier. my research on this site had showed that i just had to connect the new unit to existing harness.

he also said that the radio antenna in my car is in the rear. is that true?

thanks

Good thing i had the thread subscription still active.

Yes you are correct in that you need to connect the speaker wires directly into the harness. Either there is no amp or the amp is smart enough to detect line level inputs and adjust accordingly.

Antenna cable is also available right next the hardness in the dashboard, I got a $5 adapter on ebay to connect the BMW type antenna to the F90bt.

the harness is in the dash, connected to the factory radio. Mine has 8 speakers (no sub) and all the 8 are in use after the new radio is installed
