You could opt for the radio interface version of the kit.

While this is primarily intended for Professional CD radios, you simply need to transfer 2 terminal pins from your old connector to the new one supplied in order to retain your NAV voice commands.

Correct, here's the kit you need: eas - 714.369.8524 | DICE - MediaBridge iPod/iPhone Multimedia Hub for e83 X3 (Radio Interface)

Everything needed (except the iPod) is included with the kit.

Is there a way to adjust the mic gain on the mediabridge? We installed it last weekend in our 2005 x3 and placed the microphone in the spot where the factory installed microphone was supposed to go. While the clarity of the mic is excellent, we aren't having much luck with "volume". When you are talking on the phone via the mic it sounds like you are on a speaker phone in a very large conference room or something. No echos, just a tiny little voice that sounds far away.

Is there a way to increase the gain on the mic so you are louder when talking on the phone?

Thanks.

This is just a bump to remind all the MediaBridge owners to update their firmware... lots of good changes in the past few months!

Mediabridge doesn't recognize Bluetooth or displays songs

Hello All. I have just installed the MB 1500 in my 2001 (oct) X5 3.0 which has the 16.9 screen.

It recognizes my iphone and can play music from my phone. However it won't recognize my bluetooth nor will display the song tracks on the display on the head unit.

Really keen to get the bluetooth going so I can make calls from my phone. Can someone please describe how to set up the bluetooth pairing.

When I press the mode on the radio the only selections I get are Radio / CD / tape No Mediabridge.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please check the module to confirm whether you have a MB1000 or MB1500.

I recently installed the Mediabridge 1500 in my 2001 X5. Business CD Headunit without DSP. Sometimes when I turn on the car, and press "CD" to select "USB" or "Bluetooth", nothing happens. It won't pair with my phone, nor will it appear to charge or recognize my iPod Touch if I plug it into the connector. It's as if the Mediabridge is Off or hung. When it gets to that state, the only thing I can do to bring it back is to go to the back of my X5 and disconnect/reconnect the 3-pin cable on the Mediabridge unit.

Any ideas what the problem could be? Do you think I have a faulty MediaBridge? When I attempted to update the Mediabridge Firmware, I was alerted that I have the latest FW.

Thanks in advance!

New Dice Installantion - Initial experiences

Hi,

I just installed a Dice Mediabridge with Bluetooth option into my 2006 X3. I decided to use the trunk interface, not the radio interface. The installation could not be easier since the CD changer cables are right in the center console - a one foot connection cable would be long enough. I installed the module under the center armrest, in front of the plastic storage bin and right behind the cup holder where there is empty space.

For iPOD connection I ran the cable following the OEM phone cable to the upper storage area in the center arm rest.

Then I installed the microphone that came with the package. I had couple of options for locations and decided to install it into. I tested couple of places, and the audio at the other end was crystal clear if the mic was not behind any trim panel and could get the 360 degree input. The best place probably would be on top of rear view mirror where I zip tied it for testing. I did not want to leave the mic visible so ended up installing it into the OEM location right next to the sunroof button. It definitely took quite a bit away from the quality when putting it behind the plastic roof trim.

The cord for the mic is barely long enough to reach to the center console from the sunroof button area. I ran it under the roof liner to the passenger side, then down under the rubber seal in the A-pillar, behind the glove box to the front part of the center console and then towards back into the Dice Module.

Everyrhing works great. All the positives are the features that come with it.

Slight minuses are
  • The response time is a bit too long after pressing a button
  • Also when the text is in the scrolling mode, then if adjusting bass or treble or fader etc. it looses those quickly and just forces the song title / artist to display. I guess this is because the mediabridge is sending the text into the IBUS every time it needs to 'scroll' by a character. If it would somehow know when the radio is adjusted it should pause the sendign of text but it may be technically tricky to do.
  • If in unlocked mode, and using the iPod cover flow to scroll through albums the music gets messed up. Once you stop scrolling then the music catches up again. Not sure what is causing this, some buffer too small? I have iPod Nano 3rd gen so not sure if this happens with newer versions of iPod.
  • ... even though quite cool, in the long run the girl talks too much... when controlling using the iPod it always tells me 'song mode' when I press to next or previous track. Can this be configured somehow to disable the talking when in USB mode?
(Edit: this is configurable. In locked mode, to change the talk activity, go to bluetooth mode and turn MAT completely off there is no talk at all about song mode, artist mode etc. Not sure if this is the case in unlocked mode as well. Need to test.)

I was initially a bit disappointed that it says that one can receive calls over bluetooth but not make calls. And that the address book is not synchronized into the car. I knew this before I bought the device. What a great surprise it was that I can actually pass voice commands over bluetooth back to my phone by pressing the voice button on the steering wheel. And the car talks to me back so it passes all the phone talk back to the car speakers. So it is actually better than having the address book synchronized! Just press a button, say your friend's name and my phone will confirm to dial. I guess it depends on the phone if this works or not. But if the phone supports voice commands it probably works.

When streaming music from my phone over bluetooth A2DP it only shows Playing. Not sure if this because of my phone not able to read the tags properly.

What is not clear to me is MAT. In the manual it says this is configurable. Can someone explain what this does?
