You may want to also look at the Dietz interface. It offers a similar solution to the others mentioned here, however does allow the external video to be selected (or not selected as the case may be, regardless of if the source video is available .ie DVD playing) with a button on the NAV Screen. The clock button to be exact. No new menu item appears. Its just done by pushing the clock button momentarily.
