i did a little more digging, w/ the help of IFlyX5
and came up w/ the following.

there is some sort of secret menu that u can get
to by holding down the MENU Button. this menu
listed the following info. -

SW Level - 49
HW Level - 51
Diag Index - 31
BUS Index - 10
Encoding Index - 00
Supplier - 17

any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
Jan - i read a little about ur install and how u had
to send it to BMW of NA or that there was an "upgrade"
offered by BMWNAV. can u elaborate on that a little more?

thanks in advance,
brian

Brian - I think Jan has a friend who is a engineer with BMW. I don't think BMW would do an upgrade to the tuner firmware but instead will make you buy a newer tuner. But I find it strange that you had the newer tuner plugged in and the HW level is still showing 51. You will need at least 52 to make it work with Sirius.

i'm going to take a pic of the radio module 2nite.
as mentioned b4, there is a generic BMW sticker
on the same side as the Becker sticker that lists
a part # and date. to me, this doesn't seem like
something that BMW would do from the factory.
so, on the side of the radio module, i have 2 part
numbers.

I've seen it before, BMW does charge a refundable core on some radios - it could be a reflashed unit since the part number has changed slightly.

IFlyX5 - i saw the price quote for the new module. thanks.
i'm probably gonna go ahead and purchase it; i haven't decided
yet. i'm not sure i want to dump even more $$ into this. i was
hoping to hear from pepartick, but that's still not the case.

any other suggestions?

IFlyX5 - i looked at Vaheh's quote again. he says that
it's the 691 radio. what is that? if i check realoem, i can't
find that part number anywhere.
