As for the other problem with X5 no longer being listed correctly (now showing 7 series and no data) I'm pretty sure that problem existed before. V27 is a regular update and it shouldn't switch the country coding. If I recall well, this "recoding needed" issue only started with V26.09A. Have you been using that version (09A)?

Yes I did use the beta version and I do tend agree with the post above that was proberly the beta version that screwed it up. I rang my mate(BMW TECH) and told him what I had done and his response "What have you been downloading from the internet now " Also which was quite interesting, he did not know about the secret menu on the NAV but he did say he gets all that info out of the BMW Computer that plugs into the car.

Great, I got this working, but does anyone know how to get the "Traffic Information" to work.

That feature unfortunately isn't available at this time in the U.S. To get it requires a different radio module, and there are no broadcasts in the U.S. to take advantage of the capability even if you had that particular radio module installed.

If someone can give me a better US based link other than megaupload I will be happy to host this for a while. Megaupload took over 30 min to download 38mb and then it said it completed successfully. I know this is at least a 120-140mb file.

Hope it helps what I found out.

If car stands still, both modes are available in 3 D: travelling direction and pointing north.

A soon as car moves only pointing direction mode in 3 D is available

F.E.: Car stands still, 3 D pointing north works well, car moves and immediately 3 D North switches automatically to 3 D direction.

Is this the reason for different posts?

Got this working in my 04 330ci. Awesome!
Sounds like people are really digging into the firmware to make changes, how about making the radio text show more than ~10 characters? There's so much more room on the screen, why doesn't it use it?
This would be very useful for my ipod. Just a thought.

Another new thing i've noticed: when switching from 2d to 3d, the screen rotates, as if the camera was moving, instead of just instantly switching from one mode to the other.
Not sure if anyone else has noticed that.

It's the fact that you went down a version i.e. V26--> vT26.09A that put it into 7er mode. You would have had the same issue if you'd gone from V26--> v24, V26-->V25. There are UK users that have needed a recode without ever touching the beta version, but went back a version to get V26 with splash screen.

Don't want to labour the point but if you get it recoded then go V27--> V26 --> V27 with splash screen for example, then I suspect you'll be visiting the dealer again!
