Back to the dealer for a recode it seems.
I've been banging on that it's the downgrade that causes the recode issue and not T26.09A (other than the fact that V26 release - T26.09 is a downgrade) for a while now.

Nobody seemed to believe me, but it could have a big impact on the number of cars that end up at the dealers because of it.

Not what I expected...

Wondered what you guys think of this.

E39 Mk IV NAV, upgraded to V26 some months ago no problem but when I upgraded to V27 (straight from V26 - no beta's) it hung before the 'remove CD & reboot' message and I had to switch off and then got this....

3D buttons, 6 country options, 4 colour modes for day and 4 for night - switches between when I turn the lights on - new graphics.....

I know I've seen those graphics somewhere...oh yeah...the control consoles from the Apollo missions...

You might need to downgrade to v26 and upgrade back to v27.

I've had that before in the same circumstance. Reflashing fixed it for me. A little worrying at the time though. I think it's the very base OS, with a lot of the features such as night modes dropped a long time ago.

I'm betting you also have a BMW video module installed and that is what you are seeing displayed on the screen (the video module has its own OS that controls the nav display in the event that the nav drive isn't responding in the vehicle).

You need to get your nav drive's OS completely loaded in order to get back to a normal condition.

I agree to UCrewX5 - this are the menus from the video module! We had this on our first MK2-Nav, and it was then replaced by a Mk3-Nav. BMW has paid it!

Sound reasonable - notice I had no Sat Nav option - downgraded to V26 & cut another V27 CD & all worked OK.

Liked the different colour scheme options though - BMW could still do so much to improve this software!!!

DO NOT TURN OFF THE IGNITION. Put in a KNOWN good software disk right away.

what happend was a BAD burned software disk and the nav computer is NO LONGER BOOTING! If you are luck you can recover your MKIV nav computer by installing the software again.
