See http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...ystem-faq.html for information on identifying what nav system you have and how far it can be updated.

The nav update disks have all languge packs on them and will only load the ones that your unit is coded for. So if you are currently in German then it will remain in German.

V23 to V27?

Is it OK to go from V23 straight to V27 on a MKIV? Will I get more functionality with upgrade to V26 first?

Yes, you can go straight to V27 and there is nothing to be gained by going to an interim release.

I have a bit of a problem and wanted to see if someone may help me.. What im trying to do is to update the OS on my Nav i have the SW 3-1/21 right now and not sure which version to install on it.. 22,23,24 as i see the 26 and 27 will not work for my.. Well the other question is also i wanted to see if it was posible to update my mkiii to the DVD one but Hassel BMW claims it can't be done but not sure if they know what there doing cause originally i wanted to get the OS update from them and they claim they don't do such thing..

Also does anyone have the mapping cd for the 2005.2 that i can get a copy of it.. Please :-)..

It drives me crazy when idiot dealers speak when they should just not say anything. Anyway. Install is simple. Instructions for each car are here.

http://www.bimmernav.com/BMW_GPS_Nav...formation.html

Basic and simple installation to go from MKIII to MKIV. True plug and play. Just use the V26 disk in the MKIII as the new disk still has the old software

Thanks for all your hard work, this is what it's all about
Seeing all the custom splashes posted so far made me want to make one too. This is what I've come up with so far, and as of 30mins ago is now featured at the friendly neighborhood X5.

Some aliasing on the "5" is noticeable because I had a surprisingly hard time finding a good picture of the shiny "X5" emblem. Parts of the badge are black, so I had to make the background white for contrast. If I were good enough at photo manipulation, I think I could make a grayish badge work on a black background. Anyone who can help with getting a better pic of a badge, or can actually create one from scratch (3-D modeling or 2-D vector drawing) please speak up! It's a shame that there haven't been more splash screens that are actually X5 specific...I mean this is X5world after all. Well thank you all so much for helping me banish that unbelievably crappy v. 4-1/12 forever!
