Kam.
Kam - first, congrats on the upgrade to a custom version of V27

On your question, no, it does not have any impact on the TV module or being able to have in-motion capability. That is controlled by an i-bus signal and you need a module that can intercept that signal in order to defeat it.

Thanks UCrewX5, the instructions here have made it extremely easy for us novices!!!

Thought that was the case with the in-motion. Have infact already ordered but thought it would be worth asking! Got a load more info from HacktheiBus and ipodlinux on the necessary info to get the iPod Video on screen, so just as soon as the bits arrive...

Question Upgrade problem to v27

BMW X5 4,6IS -03
MKIV with version 4-1/12 (V20.1)

I downloaded the V27 file (mounted it with MagicDisc, burnt it with Roxio CD creator, lowest speed, on a Imation CD-R). The burnt copy works fine on my computer.

Tried the upgrade according to the instructions I collected after reading 30+ replies on this forum thread. .

After I inserted the disk the screen displayed some text about loading disc. It did not display any upgrade information text or question. The screen went blank. I left it running for 20+ min. Every now and then the screen "blinked" a little (but no information on it) and I can hear the CD in the DVD reader at the back spinning/reading the disk every now and then. After 20min I gave up. Took out the CD and inserted the map CD again. However, the screen remains blank (radio is working but no info on screen). Tried to turn off the power and back on again a little later. Still no information on screen.
Did I crash the old installation?
Is it possible to upgrade straight from V20.1 to V27 as I tried?
Any ideas how to solve it?

Thanks!

The MkII has 2 components. The nav drive and a stand alone GPS receiver unit. You will want to remove both and simply connect the 2 cables from the back of the MkII and the antenna cable from the back of the GPS receiver to the MkIV and you are up and running. (the MkIII and MkIV have a built-in GPS receiver, unlike the MkI and MkII that require an additional stand alone unit).

eBay is usually a good place to look for one. Be sure you get a MkIV that is for an i-bus vehicle with the color screen.

Ok I have a brand new in the box MKIV comming this week. Now for another silly question.... Will the mark 4 work with the smaller screen or do I have to upgrade the scren as well?

Exclamation Possible to upgrade '04 E65 to V27?

hi Folks;

Just read through some 34+ pages of posts and didn't see this particular situation.

We have an 04 E65 that the dealer upgraded to V26 back in Sep/Oct of '05.

I downloaded the V27 software, burnt the CD with Alcohol 120, and did the upgrade on the E65.

It asked me to confirm the upgrade from 08.08.64 to something like 8.8.64 (just enough to be different by the decilmal place);

It "appeared" to work - Got 2 messages - upgrading 1/2 and then upgrading 2/2. Did the reboot and the Nav system came back online.

As I've already upgraded our '00 E38 to V27 - I knew a quick check would be to look for adding a new nav address and seeing the zip/postal code prompt. Nope -- not there.

OK - then I thought - did I just burn a V26 CD instead of V27? Nope - double checked my directorys - and used the file from Mega Uploads with a file date of 11 Mar 06 it was named V27.

SO - the basic question again -- anyone aware if there's any other special tricks I need to do to upgrade our E65 to V27? (per the PDF posted by Martin - it gave instructions for upgrading the E65 - which indicates the CD should work...)

Any ideas or suggestions for trouble shooting?

Thanks all --

Try checking the Version number in the Set menu. Should be 4-1/70 I believe. V26 is 4-1/60.

I think Post code/ZIP support is also dependant on the year of HIGH DVD disk you are using

Exclamation Set Menu on an E65?

I'm not aware of any such animal. We have a set menu on our 2000 E38 (which is working fine, with the V27 upgrade).

On our 2004, E65 - I went into the MOST settings - and for NAV it shows 8.8.64 HEX.

And - we're using the 2006.2 DVD in both cars.

Thanks for the thought -- any other suggestions folks?

Worst case - we take into our dealer during the next service visit and ask him to "upgrade" us (he's pretty good at finding some reason to do the upgrade). Classic BMW in Dallas is da best.
