navigation brightness not working

I have a 2004 4.4 with navigation. i know where u can set the brightness on the screen, but i was wondering is the screen suppose to dim at night time by it self because mine doesnt, and if it is suppose to i am under warranty will they replace the screen?

My 2003 4.4 doesn't change.

I think the nav supported color scheme / brightness changes in earlier firmware versions, but for some reason BMW got rid of that feature. I guess it confused people or didn't work.

My Lexus had it though, and I miss it...
