SatNav with TV - moving workaround with firmware?

Hi all,

I have been doing a lot of learning about various aspects of the BMW on board SatNav workings this afternoon - anyhow, after a few hours of familiarising myself, I have managed to determine that my MK.IV can be upgraded to v28, I can get my hands on a 2006-2 disc with speed camera's and that if I want to I can pay a man in Nottingham (http://www.dashtechservices.co.uk/TV.htm) 80 to flash a firmware somewhere in my car to allow me to enable TV whilst the car is in motion. My question is, does anyone know what he is changing to enable TV? I have read lots of posts proclaiming that there needs to be a hardware change, but surely as this guys can do it simply by 'plugging in', someone on here might have a clue and would want to share the wealth without crossing anybody's palm with silvers?

Oh, and I do not intend to watch the television whilst on the go, but perhaps some of my passengers would.

Cheers & and sorry if this is a bit off topic, but I figured that this certainly seems to be the right place for firmware upgrades and the likes.

Floyd

The plug-in options are usually low tech and just jam the speed messages on the IBUS rather than turning them off at source by flashing something.

The tv-in-motion cables are the way to go. They often include additional capabilities, including allowing you to change TV station via the steering wheel controls, allowing a different audio source to be listened to whilst TV is on and the ability to enable or disable the tv in motion feature via holding the clock key on the sat nav.

If you flash the firmware in the TV module, you will void the warranty on that module, should it still be in warranty.

i have used this company to flash my Range Rover and it is running fine no problems, i think if you use a lead option on a Range Rover you will have to connect an earth wire to the hand brake switch. dont know about a BMW
